Stephanie Diani nasceu na Califórnia, EUA, e a sua carreira como fotógrafa começou no final da década de 90, depois de estudar arqueologia na Universidade de Santa Bárbara e se mudar para Los Angeles, onde trabalhou em part-time num jornal local. Em 2000 abandonou o emprego e arriscou uma carreira como freelancer, juntamente com alguns artistas de vanguarda, criativos e excêntricos. Assim, o seu trabalho foi inspirado por um estilo de vida incomum, misturando documentário e ficção com um sentido de humor muito peculiar.

Foi galardoada com diversos prémios, nomeadamente: American Photography 2000, Graphis Photo Annual 2006/09, APA/New York Photo Competition e New York Photo Awards 2009.

Da sua lista de clientes destacam-se os jornais e revistas Der Spiegel, Stern, TIME, Newsweek, Forbes, The New York Times e ainda o Discovery Channel e a A&E Television.

Stephanie Diani moved to LA in the late 1990s when she got a job as a staff photographer at a local twice-weekly newspaper. In 2000 she left her job and began freelancing. Diani considers herself lucky to be a working photographer in Los Angeles; through various assignments she has met a ton of cool, creative, and oddball artists, performers and writers. She’s been swept up in the air by Fabio and kissed by Richard Simmons in tights and short shorts (him not her). She finds the random nuttiness funny and a constant source of inspiration and loves to photograph stories about unusual occupations, hobbies and lifestyles. She has documented street performers, semi-retired burlesque dancers, racetrack culture and gay rodeo. She has created unusual fashion and portraits with offal and shot several fictional photo narratives. Through her work in LA, Diani has developed a broad clientele of national and international publications, as well as advertising and creative firms. She’s looking forward to expanding her horizons further, and perhaps someday relocating to the eastern US or abroad.
