Hes Mundt é um fotógrafo autodidacta nascido na Holanda em 1965. Vive regularmente em Amesterdão desde 1992. A sua primeira experiência no mundo da fotografia deu-se em 1976. Em 1984 foi chamado para o cumprimento do serviço militar obrigatório e em 1985 tornou-se voluntário da ONU e juntou-se às forças de manutenção da paz no Líbano (UNIFIL). Em 1990 passou a trabalhar como repórter de televisão no seu país natal e em 1992 tornou-se operador de câmara de uma televisão pública (a VPRO). Desde 2001, viaja regularmente para a África Oriental e a Ásia. Dos seus trabalhos destacam-se as reportagens sobre o tsunami na Indonésia (2004) e os campos de refugiados do Quénia (2007).

Hes Mundt is a self-taught photographer/camera-man based in Amsterdam The Netherlands. He was born in 1965 and lives in Amsterdam since 1992. His first experience in photography was at the age of 11, in the summer of 1976. In 1984 he was called up for his compulsory military service and joined the UN peace keeping forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as a volunteer in 1985. He served for 6 month with the UN and after returning to The Netherlands he spent one year in Australia, working in a brick factory and travelling the country. In 1990 he started working for a local TV station as a cameraman, making news items. Two years later he joined the VPRO, a Dutch national public broadcast company, and over the past 15 years he has made dozens of documentaries on all kinds of subjects, from political stories to music documentaries. During the years as a cameraman, photography has always kept his interest. In May 2005 he attended a workshop in the south of France, lectured by Gary Knight from VII photo agency. He went to Banda Aceh in Indonesia to cover the one year commemoration of the December 2004 Tsunami and photographed the GAM rebels handing over their weapons to the Aceh Monitoring Mission, after the Tsunami ended a 30 year conflict with the Indonesian government. Since 2001 he travels on a regular basis to East Africa and became involved with WIR Pictures in late 2006.
