MADS NISSEN 

Mads Nissen nasceu em Hobro, na Dinamarca, em 1979. Terminou os estudos superiores em 1997, estudou espanhol e fez trabalho voluntário na Venezuela entre 1998-1999. Por diversas ocasiões frequentou estudos de Fotografia, desde 2000, até se tornar professor da Escola Dinamarquesa de Jornalismo em 2009. Antes disso, foi assistente de diversos fotógrafos consagrados e trabalhou em vários projectos na Dinamarca, Filipinas, China, Japão, República do Gana e ainda na América do Sul.

Expõe regularmente desde 2004 e recebeu diversos prémios internacionais. Foi Fotógrafo do Ano na Dinamarca em 2007 e 2010 e Menção Honrosa no concurso Foto do Ano UNICEF em 2009. Vive actualmente em Copenhaga e está a desenvolver um trabalho fotográfico de longo curso sobre os índios da Amazónia, com o título «Fever, Gold Fever (Amazonas — Voyage into the wilderness)», desde 2007.

2009: Participant at the 16th World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass.

2009: Guest teacher at The Danish School of Journalism, Photojournalism; Staff photographer at the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende; Moved back to Copenhagen, Denmark.

2008: Participant at the first Nordic Masterclass for young talents.

2007: Moved to Shanghai, China to cover the social, economical and political development; Graduated with distinction from The Danish School of Journalism, Photojournalism.

2006: Began personal long term project ’AMAZONAS’; Participated in the World Press Photo/ASEF seminar for young photographers in Manila, The Philippines.

2004-06: Staff photographer at the Danish national newspaper Politiken.

2003: Started at The Danish School of Journalism, Photojournalism.

2002: Full-time assistant for the freelance photographers: Peter Funch, Asger Carlsen, Lars Bech, Ricky John Molloy and Erik Refner.

2001: Photographer at ’Socialisten Weekend’; Finished the three-year education 'Den Frie Ungdomsuddannelse'.

2000-01: Worked on personal photographic projects in South America and Ghana.

2000: Student at K.U.B.A – School of Photography, Denmark.

1998-99: Studied spanish and did voluntary work in Venezuela.

1997: Finished high school.

1979: Born the 17 th of November in Hobro, Denmark.
