The Marão mountain is a superb area of water and stone. From the slopes of the Alvão mountain and Ermelo waterfalls, to the remote village of Alvadia — already at the gates of low Barroso mountain, in the municipality of Ribeira de Pena — sees the shrine of Our Lady of Grace (Mondim de Basto), on the top. The rudeness of the people that lives here may be due to the same reasons that support wild cows dark brown, wild goats and rabbits, wolves and a large black crows with many legends and superstitions...

Our Lady of Teixeira fresco paintings
The fresco paintings of the hermitage (Sequeiros, Torre de Moncorvo) are contemporaries of Domenikos Theotokópoulos, El Greco. The same lines, the same colours and the same stretching of the bodies which one can observe in many of the doomsday are typical of the Greek’s painter who had moved to Toledo and to his master, Michael Angelo.
